Post Traumatic Stress

Post Traumatic Stress is an anxiety disorder caused by very stressful, frightening or distressing events. Someone with Post Traumatic Stress often relives the traumatic event through nightmares and flashbacks, and may experience feelings of isolation, irritability and guilt. They may also have problems sleeping, such as insomnia, and find concentrating difficult. These symptoms are often severe and persistent enough to have a significant impact on the person’s day-to-day life.

Panic is a sudden sensation of fear, which is so strong as to dominate or prevent reason and logical thinking, replacing it with overwhelming feelings of anxiety and frantic agitation consistent with an animalistic fight-or-flight reaction.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is an anxiety disorder characterised by obsessive thoughts and physical and/or mental compulsions. It is a common problem but one that can be very disabling for people. The World Health Organisation lists OCD as one of the top ten disabling illnesses in the world.
