The staff work closely with other services within your community that might be of benefit to you. In some circumstances, you will be able to meet with a member of staff in person, for a more in-depth discussion that considers practical problem solving. Please note that although you can come to either course they do take different approaches, for this reason we recommend that you do not attend ACT-ion for Living and Stress Control at the same time.
This course has been designed to help people learn to control their stress or anxiety better. You will learn new stress control tools and as the course goes on, how to put these together. At the end of the course, you will have a tool kit that you will be able to put into practice. Struggling to get rid of an emotional problem can seem to make it worse. The answer may be to accept them using an approach called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Understanding Me is based on the principles of a newly developed type of therapy which aims to help with self criticism and shame - Compassion Focused Therapy. Understanding Me aims to teach people that we all find ourselves here with a brain, emotions and self which we have to work out; that working out how and why are brain works the way it does is a tough task and we are not to blame for the ways in which our mind reacts to this task. These courses in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan are open access, so there is no need to book a place just show up.
